The recent ceremony honored Skip Rogers for his outstanding support of veterans and military families in need. His dedication to the military community goes far beyond organizing events—he provides personal guidance, connects veterans with essential resources, and offers steady support during challenging times.

One of his most recognized efforts is his role in the Commemoration to the Dogs of War, an event that pays tribute not only to human service members but also to the working dogs who serve alongside them. Rogers has also played a key role in Veterans Appreciation Day, an annual event held over Memorial Day weekend, which brings together military families, supporters, and community members to recognize the sacrifices of those who have served in the uniform.

Rogers is a leader at Abel Forces, an organization dedicated to supporting veterans and first responders in their transition to civilian life. Through mentorship and outreach, he has helped many find their footing after military service.

The Bronze Good Citizenship Medal is awarded to individuals who demonstrate a sustained and exceptional commitment to civic duty. For Rogers, the recognition reflects years of selfless effort, often behind the scenes.

“It’s never about the recognition,” Rogers said following the ceremony. “It’s about showing up for those who’ve served. They gave so much—it’s only right we give back however we can.”

Community leaders and fellow veterans were quick to praise Rogers’ leadership and service.

“Skip doesn’t just talk about supporting veterans—he lives it,” said a local veteran who attended the event. “Whether it’s organizing a tribute, helping someone get their benefits, or just being there to talk, he’s the real deal.”

As Rogers continues his work, the Col. James Wood II Chapter hopes this award will also shine a light on the importance of supporting veterans, not just on holidays, but every day.

“We are proud to honor Mr. Rogers,” said the chapter. “He represents the best of what it means to be a good citizen: humble, hardworking, and committed to lifting others up.”

The Sons of the American Revolution is a national organization dedicated to preserving the memory of the patriots of the American Revolution, while encouraging good citizenship and public service in today’s communities.

For Skip Rogers, that mission clearly lives on—not just in ceremony, but in everyday action.
