Is your teen a clothes horse? A solution

Published

on

If your teen loves new clothes, but the bill is getting hefty, it’s time to capitalize on her passion for duds.

The online market for used clothes is growing and lucrative. Anyone can sell their used clothes for cash or trade.

That is a lesson not lost on teens who are using online used clothing Websites. The $2 billion market category attracts 36 percent of 14- to 19-year-olds, according to the research firm Cassandra. Reselling services such as Vinted and ThredUp combined are doing better than retailers with the age group.

At a site such as Poshmark, teens can sell clothing and accessories for online credits. The credits can then be used to purchase other items.

Some teens have actually forged a brisk business in buying and selling their passions from skateboarding accessories to high-ticket sneakers. Even homemade items can sell.

According to the Wall Street Journal, one teen bought a $10 pair of jeans at Goodwill, decorated them, and sold them online for $75.
