VDOT: Warren County Traffic Alert for October 20 – 24, 2025

The following is a list of highway work that may impact traffic in Warren County during the upcoming weeks. Scheduled work is subject to change due to inclement weather and material supply issues. Motorists are advised to watch for slow-moving tractors during mowing operations. When traveling through a work zone, be alert to periodic changes in traffic patterns and lane closures.

INTERSTATE 66

*UPDATE* Mile marker 0 to 14, eastbound and westbound – Single-lane closures for maintenance of various bridges, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. eastbound and 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. westbound. Estimated completion October 31.

Mile marker 0 to 15, eastbound – Mobile shoulder closures for utility work, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through October 30.

Mile marker 2 to 0, westbound – Shoulder closures for road work related to I-81 southbound widening, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through November 7.

*UPDATE* Mile marker 11 to 12, eastbound – Right shoulder closures for bridge painting, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through October 25.


INTERSTATE 81

Mile marker 299 to 300, northbound and southbound – Overnight single-lane closures southbound, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. through night of November 6. Northbound and southbound shoulder closures 24/7. Shoulder closures 24/7. Traffic restrictions are related to I-81 widening project.

Mile marker 300 to 299, southbound – Overnight single lane closures for paving operations, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. through the night of October 30.


PRIMARY ROADS

*NEW* Route 340/522 (North Shenandoah Avenue) – Single-lane closures just north of Front Royal town limits for bridge inspection over the railway and the South Fork Shenandoah River, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday.


SECONDARY ROADS

*UPDATED* Route 647 (Dismal Hollow Road) – Flagger traffic control just west of the intersection with Route 603 (Oregon Hollow Road) for painting of I-66 overpass bridges, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday night, October 25.

Vegetation management may take place district-wide on various routes. VDOT reminds motorists to use extreme caution when traveling through work zones.
