Children Activities by Samuels Public Library for the Month of January

These are the events being presented by the Youth Services Department at Samuels Public Library during the month of January 2025.  More information about Samuels Library and the programs and services available can be found at www.samuelslibrary.net or by calling (540) 635-3153.


Thursday, January 2

  • 10:15AM – Toddler Story Time.  Bring your toddler to a potpourri of simple stories, fun songs, and a cute craft on Snow. Siblings welcome. Registration is required.
  • 11:00AM – Preschool Story Time.  Come in for an enjoyable hour filled with Snow stories, exciting sing-alongs, finger plays, and a nifty craft. Registration is required.

Saturday, January 4

  • All Day – Our Winter Reading Program will begin!  Come in or go online to register anyone in your family, then read a “blizzard of books!”  Next week come in to log your books or reading time and get prizes.

Monday, January 6

  • 11:00 AM – Music & Movement for Babies & Toddlers. Join our relaxed and joyful time with your little ones as we listen to music while learning some basic movements and multisensory activities designed to delight your baby. Registration is required.

Tuesday, January 7

  • 4:00 PM – Science Scouts. For ages 6-11.  Children will investigate a different STEM-related topic bi-weekly. This week’s theme is Starch? Chemical Reaction. Registration is required.

Wednesday, January 8

  • 10:15AM – Toddler Story Time.  Bring your toddler to a potpourri of simple stories, fun songs, and a cute craft on Snow. Siblings welcome. Registration is required.
  • 11:00AM – Preschool Story Time.  Come in for an enjoyable hour filled with Snow stories, exciting sing-alongs, finger plays, and a nifty craft. Registration is required.

Saturday, January 11

  • 11:00 AM – Gnomes of Fibberton.  Come listen to local author, Becky Bell, read her story, dress as a gnome for photo opportunities, go on a scavenger hunt, and get her book signed!  Registration is required.
  • 2:00 PM – A Tiger at Aspen Dale.  Come listen to local author,  Kelly Hattler Carr, read her story and then do a craft.  Registration is required.

Monday, January 13

  • 11:00 AM – Music & Movement for Babies & Toddlers. Join our relaxed and joyful time with your little ones as we listen to music while learning some basic movements and multisensory activities designed to delight your baby. Registration is required.

Tuesday, January 14

  • 10:30 AM – Homeschool Hub. For ages 6-11. Children will work together as they go through the scientific method, gathering data, and drawing conclusions.   The topic this week is Starch? Chemical Reaction.  Registration is required.

Wednesday & Thursday, January 15 & 16

  • 10:15AM – Toddler Story Time.  Bring your toddler to a potpourri of simple stories, fun songs, and a cute craft on Bears. Siblings welcome. Registration is required.
  • 11:00AM – Preschool Story Time.  Come in for an enjoyable hour filled with Bear stories, exciting sing-alongs, finger plays, and a nifty craft. Registration is required.

Saturday, January 18

  • 11:00 AM – Artic Blizzard Craft.  For ages 6-11.  Listen to some “chilly” stories and then design a winter hat!

Monday, January 20

  • Library is closed for the holiday.

Tuesday, January 21

Wednesday & Thursday, January 22 & 23

  • 10:15AM – Toddler Story Time.  Bring your toddler to a potpourri of simple stories, fun songs, and a cute craft on Penguins. Siblings welcome. Registration is required.
  • 11:00AM – Preschool Story Time.  Come in for an enjoyable hour filled with Penguin stories, exciting sing-alongs, finger plays, and a nifty craft. Registration is required.

Saturday, January 25

  • 2:30PM – Teens Connect.  For ages 12-18.  Join us for some games of chess, including ICE chess!  Can you finish the game before the pieces melt?  Registration is required.

Monday, January 27

  • 11:00 AM – Music & Movement for Babies & Toddlers. Join our relaxed and joyful time with your little ones as we listen to music while learning some basic movements and multisensory activities designed to delight your baby. Registration is required.
