Virginia State Police Seize More Than $2.6 Million in Drugs During Weeklong Operations

Published

on

Virginia State Police seized more than $2.6 million worth of illegal drugs during crime suppression operations conducted across the Commonwealth from Aug. 19 through Aug. 25.

The enforcement efforts were carried out by the Virginia State Police, along with local, state, and federal partners, and included drug seizures, criminal investigations, and assistance to other agencies.

According to State Police, the estimated revenue denied from the seized drugs totaled $2,608,441.

Among the largest seizures reported during the week were 58.9 pounds of marijuana, 17.2 pounds of cocaine and 14.9 pounds of psilocybin.

Troopers and partner agencies also recovered 5.7 pounds of methamphetamine, 9.6 ounces of fentanyl and 66.6 pounds of THC consumable products.

The totals include seizures involving the Virginia State Police, State Police task forces, federal task forces, and cases in which the State Police assisted other agencies.

The weekly report is part of an ongoing statewide effort aimed at disrupting criminal activity and reducing the flow of illegal narcotics through Virginia.

State Police said the operations are intended to support broader public safety efforts while targeting criminal enterprises involved in drug distribution and other offenses.

The agency said cooperation between local, state, and federal law enforcement remains an important part of those efforts.

“By working in close collaboration with local, state, and federal agencies, law enforcement continues to disrupt criminal enterprises and safeguard communities,” Virginia State Police said.

The agency also said the operations support the governor’s initiatives focused on violent crime while continuing the department’s broader mission to enforce state law and protect communities throughout Virginia.

The Aug. 19-25 figures are part of a weekly report issued by Virginia State Police on ongoing crime suppression and interdiction efforts across the Commonwealth.
