Humane Society of Warren County awarded $2,500 grant from the ASPCA

Front Royal, VA – The Humane Society of Warren County announced that they were awarded a $2,500 grant for Olive’s Fund, a fund created to help pay for advanced medical care such as broken bones, amputations, bladder stone removal, blockages and many other medical issues shelter animals may need through donations and grant funding.

“The Humane Society of Warren County had approximately 1,500 animals come through our doors in 2018. Our medical care budget must be split between those animals each year and sadly, we do not have the extra funds to cover advanced medical needs. Without grant funding and donations from the public, we would not be in the position that we are in to provide the very best care to these animals.” – Kayla Wines, Shelter Manager. “Funding from the ASPCA made a world of difference for 5 animals in particular – Nala, Middi, Dexter, Mater and Cannon.”

“Mater for example, was brought in by Animal Control with 3 broken ribs, a fractured hip and broken leg, injuries consistent with being hit by a car, that’s our best guess anyway. Estimated costs for his surgery were in the thousands and we were determined to get this little guy the help he so desperately needed. We began fundraising and the community rallied together to donate to his surgery. Those funds along with funds from the grant paid for Mater’s surgery. He was adopted 6 weeks after surgery and has been living the dream ever since!”
