Weekly update from the General Assembly

Tuesday, February 7, 2017 is Crossover, the deadline with which each chamber must complete work on bills that originated in their chamber.  In last week’s newsletter, I highlighted the compensation package for state employees including teachers and law enforcement that is included in the House budget and below is an updated summary of additional key points announced by the House Appropriations Committee over the weekend. The House is proposing a balanced budget that invests in core functions of government without a tax or fee increase.  This Thursday the House will vote on our version of the budget.
