Wildcats to Celebrate Graduation Rain or Shine at Wildcat Stadium
Warren County High School is preparing to celebrate the Class of 2026 with graduation set for Thursday at 7 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium.
Principal Ken Knesh said the ceremony is more than a school event. It is a community celebration for students, families, teachers, and staff who have shared the journey with this year’s seniors.
With some rain possible during the day, families are encouraged to plan ahead. Guests should bring a poncho or small personal umbrella, but avoid large umbrellas that could block someone else’s view. Knesh also suggested bringing a towel to wipe off wet bleacher seats.
The school plans to keep the ceremony outdoors unless conditions change significantly. Moving indoors would greatly limit attendance, as gym capacity would allow only a few tickets per graduate. Keeping the event at the stadium allows more family members and friends to take part in the celebration.
Safety plans are also in place. If lightning is detected nearby, the school’s weather warning system will sound, and guests will be directed to take cover. The standard rule requires a 30-minute delay after a nearby lightning strike before resuming outdoor activities.
Families are urged to arrive early. Knesh reminded guests that there is one main way in and out of Warren County High School, through Westminster Drive. Parking areas, including accessible spaces, are expected to fill quickly. Golf carts will be available to help guests who need assistance getting to the stadium.
The concession stand and restrooms will be open, and guests are encouraged to take photos and enjoy the evening.
Knesh said this year’s graduating class has much to celebrate, including more than $750,000 in scholarships and awards. Four students received full-ride scholarships, a milestone he called one of the highlights of the class.
He also praised students who used dual-enrollment opportunities through Laurel Ridge Community College to earn college credits, giving some graduates a major head start on their next chapter.
Graduation marks the end of one season and the beginning of another. As the Class of 2026 moves on, current juniors will begin stepping into their senior year traditions, including the senior lounge, parking lot painting, and senior sunrise.
For now, the focus is on Thursday night.
