UPDATE: 8th Street Bridge in Front Royal to Close for Replacement Starting May 12

Published

on

The date has been changed to May 12.

The Town of Front Royal is preparing to begin a major bridge replacement project near Bing Crosby Stadium. Starting April 22, 2025, work will begin on replacing the 8th Street bridge, which crosses over Happy Creek.

On May 12, 2025, 8th Street will close to through traffic between Commerce Avenue and Crosby Road. The road will remain closed until the completion of the new bridge, which is expected by early February 2026. A full detour route will be in place to help guide drivers around the construction zone.

The 8th Street bridge replacement is part of the town’s ongoing efforts to maintain important public infrastructure. The existing bridge will be removed and replaced with a new structure designed to improve safety and traffic flow in the area.

Drivers are asked to use caution when traveling near the construction site and to follow all posted signs. Construction crews will be active in the area, and motorists are encouraged to plan extra travel time.

The project is being handled by WG Construction, a company contracted by the Town of Front Royal. The bridge serves a well-traveled area near local parks, neighborhoods, and community facilities, making the upgrade a priority for the town.

For questions or concerns about the project or road closures, the Public Works Department is available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at (540) 635-7819.
