REMINDER: Scholarship Opportunity for Front Royal Students
High school seniors in Front Royal have a chance to secure a $3,000 scholarship through American Municipal Power’s (AMP) Lyle B. Wright and Richard H. Gorsuch Scholarship Program. Designed to promote education and create awareness about careers in municipal electric utilities, the program offers a meaningful boost for students planning to attend college or technical school.
Front Royal, an AMP member community, is eligible to nominate one student for each of the two scholarship categories. These one-time awards aim to support academic dreams and foster interest in sustainable energy and public service careers.
Eligibility at a Glance
Applicants must meet specific criteria based on their household’s relationship with Front Royal’s municipal services:
- Lyle B. Wright Scholarship: Open to students whose households receive electricity from the Town of Front Royal.
- Richard H. Gorsuch Scholarship: Reserved for students whose parents or guardians work for the Town’s Energy Services Department, Finance Department, Town Manager’s Office, or Town Council.
In addition, students must maintain a cumulative, unweighted GPA of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) over six semesters and submit a short essay on electricity or green initiatives alongside their transcript.
Application Details
All materials, including the essay and transcript, must be submitted to the Town of Front Royal by Monday, December 9, 2024. After a review process, one nominee for each scholarship will be selected. Notifications will be sent out after December 13, 2024.
A Path to the Future
With up to five $3,000 scholarships available across AMP member communities, this initiative underscores the value of education and the importance of green energy awareness. If you’re a graduating senior meeting the criteria, this could be your chance to turn academic goals into reality.
