Train Crash in Warren County Leaves Driver Injured
A crash involving a train and a car in Warren County on Sunday, January 5, left one person hospitalized and facing charges. The collision occurred around 5:00 p.m. near the intersection of CCC Road and John Marshall Highway (Route 55).
According to Virginia State Police, a 2017 Infiniti Q60 was traveling south on CCC Road when it failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with an eastbound Norfolk Southern train.
The car’s driver, Sharon L. Roeder, 53, of Linden, Virginia, was transported to Winchester Medical Center with serious injuries. Authorities confirmed that Roeder was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Roeder has been charged with reckless driving.
The two occupants aboard the train were uninjured.
Virginia State Police continue to investigate the crash.
