On February 8, 2025, the Front Royal-Warren County Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to welcome Dance & Arts with Amy Tehovnik to the community. Chamber President Bryon Biggs, Board of Supervisors Chairman Jay Butler, and Mayor Lori Cockrell joined the celebration, praising the new dance studio as a valuable addition to the area.

“This business brings a great vibe to the community,” said Biggs. “It’s a wonderful addition for kids, parents, and adults alike. It’s always exciting to see new businesses like this, which provide creative and healthy activities for residents of all ages.”

Warren County Board of Supervisors Chairman Jay Butler echoed the enthusiasm, emphasizing the positive impact on local families. “It’s wonderful to be here for such a momentous occasion,” Butler said. “Anytime we can add more activities for children, it’s a win for our community. Opportunities like this enrich our kids’ lives and give them another reason to be excited about living here. Plus, this isn’t just for kids—adults can enjoy it, too.”

Front Royal Mayor Lori Cockrell also spoke about the growing need for recreational activities in Front Royal. “This studio is a great addition to our community,” Cockrell said. “I often hear from residents that they want more activities for kids and families, and here’s a perfect opportunity. And it’s not just for children—Amy offers classes for all ages, from toddlers to adults. On behalf of the town, thank you for investing in Front Royal and giving our residents a fun, creative outlet.”

A Dream Come True
Amy Tehovnik’s journey to opening her own dance studio has been years in the making. After earning her Bachelor of Arts in Dance from the University of Maryland, Tehovnik performed with several Virginia and New York dance companies, including a worldwide performance with Team Vicious/Noble Steps. Life events, including raising her daughter as a single mom, delayed her dream of owning a studio.

However, moving to Warren County with her now 10-year-old daughter rekindled that dream. Tehovnik’s passion for teaching and her desire to share the art of dance with the community led her to open Dance & Arts. Her dedication and hard work were recognized in 2023 when she received the Dare to Dream Grant, which supports aspiring local entrepreneurs.

A Studio for All Ages
Located on the second floor above ReWed Bridal, 21 S. Royal Avene in Front Royal, Dance & Arts offers a wide range of classes for all ages—from toddlers to adults. The studio offers classes in jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop, cheer dance, princess ballet, and adult fitness. The space is designed to promote creativity, movement, and community engagement.

“Our studio is geared toward kids but offers something for everyone,” said Tehovnik. “We want to help people stay active, socialize, and experience the joy of dance.”

Tehovnik emphasized that dance is for all fitness levels and even seniors. “There’s a dance for everyone,” she explained. “You can move at your own pace—even from a chair—and still feel the benefits.”

Future Plans and Special Programs
Dance & Arts follows a schedule similar to the school year, with core classes offered year-round, a summer program, and spring mini-sessions. Tehovnik also offers birthday party packages with dance themes like Princess Ballet Tea Party and Pop Hip Hop. Weekend offerings and Saturday morning sessions are also in the works.

“We’ve had a lot of interest in hip hop, so we’ll be adding that class soon,” Tehovnik said.

“Dreams really do come true,” Tehovnik said. “I’m so happy to be here and can’t wait to share this space with the community.”
