VDOT: Warren County Traffic Alert for February 16 – 20, 2026

The following is a list of highway work that may affect traffic in Warren County in the coming weeks. Scheduled work is subject to change due to inclement weather and material supply issues. Motorists are advised to watch for slow-moving tractors during mowing operations. When traveling through a work zone, be alert to periodic traffic pattern changes and lane closures.

INTERSTATE 66  

Mile marker 2 to 0, westbound – Shoulder closures for road work related to I-81 southbound widening, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through May 1.

*NEW* Mile marker 11 to 12, eastbound – Right shoulder closures for sign work, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.


INTERSTATE 81  

Mile marker 299 to 300, northbound and southbound – Overnight single lane closures northbound, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. through the night of April 30. Single shoulder closures 24/7. The work zone speed limit is 60 miles per hour. Traffic restrictions are related to the I-81 southbound widening project.


PRIMARY ROADS

*NEW* Route 522/340 (Winchester Road) – Southbound shoulder closures between Route 655 (Crooked Run Boulevard) and the I-66 interchange ramp for the construction of a turn lane extension, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday.


SECONDARY ROADS

No lane closures reported.

Vegetation management may occur district-wide across various routes. VDOT reminds motorists to use extreme caution when traveling through work zones.
