General Education Development

Samuels Public Library invites you to register and attend the General Education Development course. This course will be every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 A.M-12:30 P.M (except on school holidays or closings). The GED course is completely free. Let this course be the stepping stone to your success.


English as a Second Language Discussion Group

Samuels Public Library invites you to come out and join us for our English as a Second language discussion group starting. This is a conversational English language class for adults whose primary language is not English. All skill levels are welcome. Practice speaking English in a welcoming, group atmosphere. This group meets every Tuesday & Thursday at 10:00 am


Trivia Night with SPL

Join us Tuesday Nights at 7:00 P.M. for Trivia Night at the Vine and Leaf, Front Royal’s very own wine and tea bar located at 477 South St. Try your hand at answering different trivia questions in a nice cozy atmosphere with friends! Don’t miss out!


Genealogy Nuts: Shake Your Family Tree

Samuels Public Library invites you to a workshop for beginning to advanced genealogists. Discover your family roots with a team of genealogists who together have researched more than 50,000 names. Classes are held 1st & 3rd Thursday nights at 6:00 pm. (May 2nd & 16th)


Crochet Group

Samuels Public Library invites you to come out and learn how to crochet or share your talents. The group will meet on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month at 10:00 A.M (May 8th & 22nd). All ability levels welcome.


SPL – Books & Beyond

Samuels Public library invites you to come out and join us for our Books and Beyond Book Club on Wednesday, May 15th at 10 A.M. where Educated by Tara Westover will be discussed. This group meets the third Wednesday of the month.


Childhood Songs

Samuels Public Library invites you to come out and join us for an evening of classical ballet with the Northern Virginia Academy of Ballet. Join us Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at 6:30pm. Children and the young at heart will experience dancers telling stories through movement. Bring your family and enjoy watching some of your favorite Childhood Songs come to life. There will be the opportunity for everyone to participate in telling a story with music, and time for a Q&A. You can register online or at the adult reference desk.


Front Royal Sewing Group

Samuels Public Library invites you to the Front Royal Sewing Group that meets every 2nd and 4th Monday at 10:30 AM ( May 13th, Memorial day – no meeting) and every 2nd and 4th Tuesday at 6:00 PM (May 14th & 28th). People with all levels of sewing skills from beginner to advanced. Bring your own sewing machine. Limited number of extra sewing machines available for people who give advance notice.


What To Do With All Those Photos: Organizing, Storing, Editing, and Sharing

Join Sharon Fisher, local photographer, to learn how to organize store, edit, and share photos Thursday, May 16th at 6:00 P.M. This presentation will review the no-cost and low-cost photography tools available for smartphones and tablets. The presentation will focus on basic photo editing techniques such as cropping, exposure adjustment, and tweaking colors. In addition, examples of creative uses of photographs will be shared.


Art Workshop: Beginning Drawing

Join us at the library Thursday, May 23rd at 6:00 P.M. as Michael Whited, Artist, will leads this hand-on program. Michael was the Artist-in-Residence at the Kansas City Zoo and has exhibited his art works in Kansas, Massachusetts, South Carolina and Virginia. The program will cover drawing and shading techniques. Attendees will also learn how to add color to their drawings. All materials will be provided. Reservations are required. You can sign up online or at the Adult Reference Desk.
