YOU ARE INVITED TO SOMETHING NEW IN FRONT ROYAL

Many of us recognize that we do not have much opportunity to build relationships with those of a different race. Yet developing these relationships is one of the most positive things we can do to grow as individuals and strengthen our sense of community.

Following up on our first meeting on April 12,  we are inviting you to join us in the series of monthly meetings we have planned for those living in and around Front Royal. On each of these Thursday evenings we will be meeting in a new community  space on Main Street in Front Royal. All are welcome. There is no cost and we believe it will enrich your life and our community.

The idea comes from a vision expressed by Dr. Martin Luther King in his famous speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial:

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave-owners will be able to sit down together at a table of brotherhood.

By extension, Coming To The Table, invites all of us who are affected by our racial history, to gather together to build understanding, heal wounds and create a mutually thriving future.

At these gatherings, under the guidance of skilled facilitators, we safely share each others’ personal and family history with race, get to know and deepen our relationships and explore how we can help each other grow from our experiences. As we develop as a group we will collaboratively create our agenda.

You may come once to see if this is something helpful to you, or choose to become a regular participant. Either way, you are welcome.

If you know someone of another race who might also be interested, we encourage you to extend an invitation to them to join you. The more diverse the group, the richer will be the conversation.
