VA250 Mobile Museum Experience Coming to Front Royal June 18-21

A traveling museum on wheels is coming to Front Royal, giving residents and visitors a chance to step inside Virginia’s history as the nation prepares to mark America’s 250th anniversary.

The VA250 Mobile Museum Experience will be open from 10 a.m. June 18 through 6 p.m. June 21 at E. Wilson Morrison Elementary School. The four-day public event is hosted by Warren County VA250 and Discover Front Royal.

Called a quad-expandable “museum on wheels,” the mobile museum features interactive displays that explore Virginia’s role in shaping America. Visitors will be able to learn about the Commonwealth’s past, present, and future through a hands-on, immersive experience.

The local stop is part of ongoing VA250 efforts tied to the upcoming 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, the Revolutionary War, and the independence of the United States.

Established by the Virginia General Assembly in 2020, the American Revolution 250 Commission, known as VA250, was created to commemorate the 250th anniversary in the Commonwealth. Its mission is to educate Americans about history, engage every community in telling a more complete story, and inspire people to recommit to the values of citizenship.

Organizers describe the Front Royal theme as “History Flows with the Shenandoah,” connecting the traveling exhibit to the region’s landscape and story. The exhibit is being brought to the community in partnership with the Town of Front Royal.

“American history has never stood still — and this is your chance to step inside it,” organizers said.

The event is open to the public.
