Front Royal’s 5th Annual Pot o’ Gold Hunt Kicks Off March 7th

Published

on

Get ready to search for shamrocks—Front Royal’s 5th Annual Pot o’ Gold Hunt is back, bringing a fun and festive scavenger hunt to local businesses from March 7 to March 17. Organized by Jig ‘n’ Jive Dance Studio, this free, family-friendly event is designed to get the community out and about while celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. With plenty of prizes up for grabs and a chance to explore the best of downtown, it’s a must-do for kids and adults alike.

How the Hunt Works

Participants start by picking up a Pot o’ Gold Hunt map from one of three locations:

  • Jig ‘n’ Jive Dance Studio (available 24/7 in a designated pot outside)
  • C&C Frozen Treats (during business hours)
  • Play Favorites (during business hours)

Armed with a map, courtesy of National Media Services, Inc., in Front Royal, treasure hunters will then follow clues to find shamrocks displayed in storefront windows of participating businesses. Each shamrock features a unique word and number—these are used to complete a special holiday message on the map. The Main Street loop includes 38 participating businesses, while an additional 14 locations in the surrounding downtown area make up the bonus loop.

The Main Street loop takes about 30 to 45 minutes to complete at a leisurely pace. The bonus loop, which extends beyond Main Street, requires a short drive but is easily finished during off-peak traffic times. Participants can choose to do one loop or both—completing both doubles the chances of winning!

Prizes for All Ages

Once the map is fully completed, it must be returned to one of the designated drop-off locations by March 17 to be entered into the prize drawing. The winners will be announced after a random drawing on March 21.

This event isn’t just for kids—prizes are available for all age groups, and the adult prizes are especially impressive! All prizes are generously donated by local Main Street and downtown businesses, making this a true community-driven event.

A Growing Tradition

What started as a creative way to encourage outdoor activity during the pandemic has grown into a beloved annual tradition. The Pot o’ Gold Hunt is more than just a game—it’s a chance to support local businesses, connect with the community, and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in a unique and engaging way.

Event organizer Annie Gutierrez, who runs Jig ‘n’ Jive Dance Studio, says the enthusiasm from businesses and participants alike has kept the event going strong. “Our local businesses are so generous with their support and donations,” she said. “This wouldn’t be possible without them.”
