Laurel Ridge to Host Farm Finance Seminar with Virginia Agriculture Secretary

Published

on

Aspiring farmers and those exploring agricultural careers are invited to a free seminar at Laurel Ridge Community College’s Middletown Campus on Thursday, Dec. 12. Hosted by Virginia Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry Matt Lohr, the event runs from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and aims to equip attendees with valuable resources for launching or expanding their farming ventures.

The seminar will cover farm financing options and conservation planning, featuring presentations from Horizon Farm Credit, First Bank & Trust, F&M Bank, the USDA-Farm Service Agency, Virginia Soil and Water Conservation Districts, Virginia Cooperative Extension, and the USDA-Natural Resource Conservation Service. A free lunch will also be provided.

“The number one challenge facing those considering a career in farming is access to capital,” said Secretary Lohr. “We encourage everyone interested in production agriculture to attend this seminar and learn the many options available to them as they consider this fulfilling endeavor.”

Held in the Corron Community Development Center, the event offers a unique opportunity to network with financial and agricultural experts while gaining practical insights into farm management and sustainability practices.

Registration is required by Tuesday, Dec. 10. Those interested can sign up by emailing Josie.Rao@governor.virginia.gov.
