R-MA Middle School Interact Club helps fight against hunger

On Wednesday, 22 February, the Randolph-Macon Academy Middle School ladies celebrated their annual Middle School Interact “Penny Wars” victory over their male classmates with a pizza party. Funds raised from the event allowed the club to cut a check for $500 to “Rise Against Hunger.”

The Interactors will join fellow Interactors and Rotarians from Rotary District 7570 (Area One) on Saturday, 4 March, at Sherando High School, in packaging meals to be sent around the globe to help fight world hunger.

Since inception in 2011, the R-MA Middle School Interact Club has raised over $10,000, contributed over 6,000 of service and organized and carried out the world’s first two Middle School RYLA’s (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards). The club is sponsored by The Rotary Club of Warren County.
Our guest speaker this week was Ana Lucia Manrique Caballero from Arequipa, Peru. Ana was our Rotary Youth Exchange student in 2012, and has kept in touch with us since. Ana spoke to the club about her experience as a Rotary Youth Exchange student, and her recently completed architecture internship in Chicago. Ana anticipates completing her degree in Architecture from University in Lima, Peru in 2018.
