Virginia State Police Report Major Drug Seizures, Firearm Recoveries in Weekly Update

Published

on

Virginia State Police say their ongoing crime suppression efforts led to major drug seizures and the recovery of several firearms during a recent one-week period.

From April 15 through April 21, 2026, state police worked alongside federal and local law enforcement agencies to investigate crimes and disrupt illegal activity across the Commonwealth. The effort is part of a broader push to reduce violent crime and improve public safety.

During that time, officers recovered six firearms with an estimated value of about $3,000. Authorities say removing illegal weapons from the streets is a key step in preventing violence.

The largest impact came from drug seizures. Officials estimate the total street value of the seized narcotics at more than $1.2 million. The drugs recovered included a wide range of substances, with methamphetamine making up the largest amount at more than 113 pounds.

Other drugs seized included nearly 47 pounds of marijuana and almost 3 pounds of cocaine. Troopers also recovered smaller amounts of fentanyl, heroin, and psilocybin, all of which can pose serious risks to users and communities.

Law enforcement officials say these operations rely on teamwork between multiple agencies. By sharing information and resources, officers can track and interrupt criminal activity more effectively.

State police say their work will continue as part of ongoing efforts to reduce drug trafficking and illegal weapons activity. These weekly reports highlight the scale of enforcement efforts and the focus on keeping communities safe.

Officials encourage residents to report suspicious activity and remain aware of safety concerns in their areas.
