R-MA receives Top High School honors

Published

on

With the arrival of fall came accolades for Randolph-Macon Academy, as it was named Best Private School in Warren County by the readers of the Northern Virginia Daily, and was also named to Virginia Living Magazine’s list of Top High Schools & Colleges 2019.

In addition to voting for R-MA as the top private school in the county, the Northern Virginia Daily’s readers also recognized R-MA teacher and soccer coach Chris Peter as the top Athletic Coach in the area. The Daily’s “Best of” contest is held annually, and allows readers to vote for their favorites of everything local, from restaurants and hair salons to schools and volunteers.

Virginia Living’s Top High Schools & Colleges 2019 is a list of nearly 150 programs in public and private high schools and four-and-two-year colleges leading the way in innovation across the state. Virginia Living’s Top High Schools & Colleges 2019 recognizes schools for excellence and innovation in five categories: Arts & Humanities, Science, Math & Technology, Performing Arts, Health & Medicine and Capital Improvements.

After thorough review of each school’s programs and accomplishments, Virginia Living’s editors selected schools that have instituted programs or recently begun capital improvements aimed at strengthening students’ experiences in and beyond the classroom. Virginia Living’s Top High Schools & Colleges 2019 is the resource for anyone curious about why Virginia’s schools are consistently ranked among the nation’s best.

Randolph-Macon Academy President Brigadier General David C. Wesley, USAF, Retired, said, “So exciting!  It is an honor for the Academy to be recognized by both our local community and the editors of Virginia Living Magazine. Our selection for these honors is a direct result of our dedicated teachers and staff, as well as wonderful students, parents, and alumni, all of whom come together to help R-MA rise to new levels.”

Last fall, Randolph-Macon opened the Hadeed Innovation Wing, which provides an active learning space and promotes cross-curricular projects. This wing includes a simulation lab that takes the flight program to a new level, adding a drone program as well as a wind tunnel and an FAA-certified flight simulator. This fall saw another leap forward with the opening of the Moore Enterprise and Leadership Lab.  These innovations provide R-MA students with the latest in technology and learning spaces for growth and college preparation.

Randolph-Macon is a co-ed college-prep school for grades 6-8, offering leadership education through Air Force Junior ROTC for grades 9-12.
