RSW Regional Jail meetings – July 25th: More inmates; still needing staff

On July 25, the RSW Regional Jail Authority held it’s monthly meetings. The first meeting was the Finance and Personnel meeting. Superintendent Russ Gilkison updated the Board with report and discussed the officer vacancies. Steve Weaver provided the financial report and Doug Stanley update the committee on the Corridor Connector bus service that runs from the RSW into Front Royal.

During the second meeting, the Authority Board of Directors also received an update on the financial items and vacancies. A discussion with Shenandoah County Sheriff  Timothy Carter about the vacancies and staff levels in regards to the amount of inmates in the jail. Gilkison pointed out that he was doing what was asked of him – bring in income from bed rentals to help offset costs and save money for the RSW.
