One-Time Events:

Studio 330: Sewing 201 – Holiday Table Topper: Part 1

Wednesday, November 5, 5:00-6:30 PM

In person. Holiday Table Topper Parts 1 and 2

Part 1 Nov 5th, Part 2 Nov 19th, 5-6:30pm.

Celebrate the season with a handmade touch! In this Sewing 201 class, you’ll create a festive fabric topper perfect for your holiday table. Learn how to cut and piece seasonal fabrics, finish edges, and explore a variety of stitching.

*To attend the November 19th part 2 of this program, you must sign up and attend part 1 on November 5th.

*Must have completed Sewing 101 or have a basic working knowledge of using a sewing machine. No food allowed in the studio and patrons between 13-17 must be accompanied by an adult.  Registration required.

Resume Workshop with Virginia Career Works

Thursday, November 6th from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM

Seniors First Workshop: Medicare Savings Programs & Extra Help

Thursday, November 13th from 1:00 pm to 2:00 PM

In person. Learn about financial assistance programs that help with Medicare costs. Questions? Call VICAP at 540-635-7141 or visit seniorsfirst.info

Registration for this event is in regard to attending the hour long informational program.

One-on-one 20 minute counseling sessions can be booked beginning at 2:00 p.m. by contacting Samuels Public Library staff at 540-635-3135 ext. 105.

Trivia Night: Winter Holidays

Thursday, November 20, 6:00-7:30 PM

Test your knowledge about upcoming Winter Holidays and traditions at Trivia Night!

Build your teams of up to 6 people and compete for bragging rights and fabulous prizes!

Snacks and drinks will be provided.

Ongoing Programs:

What the Tech!

Every Tuesday from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM

In person. Need help with technology? Come by the library’s Meeting Room B where we will be going over computers and other technology basics. Having trouble with your phone, tablet, laptop, or other device? Bring it in, and we’ll help!

*The library will be closed 11/11 in observance of Veterans Day, so there will be no What the Tech! Program on this day.

Studio 330: Embroidery Club

Every Thursday from 10:00 PM to 12:00 PM

In person. Join us for Hand Embroidery Stitchers every Thursday morning! Bring your own needlework project to work on for a morning of crafting and socializing. *No food allowed in the studio and patrons between 13-17 must be accompanied by an adult.

*The library will be closed 11/27-11/28 in observance of Thanksgiving, so there will be no Embroidery Club meeting on 11/27.

General Education Development (GED) Class

Every Monday & Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, starting October 6th

In person. Samuels Public Library is proud to host Laurel Ridge Community College’s General Education Development course. This course is completely free. Let this course be the stepping stone to your success. More information on registration dates and deadlines can be found on the LRCC website – laurelridge.edu/adult-education

Studio 330 Walk-in Hours

Every Thursday from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM

In person. Come tour Studio 330 or bring your project to work on. Walk-In hours are provided on a first come, first serve basis. *Glowforge is not available during walk-in hours. No food allowed in the studio and patrons between 13-17 must be accompanied by an adult.

*The library will be closed 11/27-11/28 in observance of Thanksgiving, so there will be no Studio Walk-in Hours this day.

Studio 330: String Theory- A Fiber Arts Club

Every Saturday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM

In person. Welcome to a fiber arts community for experienced, novice, or first-time artists 13 and up looking to meet other artists, relax, and/or share their expertise! Bring your own knitting, crochet, weaving, or other project to Studio 330 on Saturdays 2pm to 4pm *No food allowed in the studio and patrons between 13-17 must be accompanied by an adult.

Scary Words Book Club

Saturday, November 8th from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM

In person. A horror book club for people who should be afraid of the dark. This month’s title is:

Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton

Bad Romance

Wednesday, November 1st from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM

First Wednesday of every month.

In person. Do you consider yourself a hopeless romantic?  Are bad romances a guilty pleasure of yours? Then you should join us for Bad Romance, where Samuels Public Library will have a themed discussion for the romance genre every month. November’s theme is Cats!

Indulge us with your favorite romance books, movies, music or other media related to the topic, and possibly discover a new treat in this awesome informal discussion! New members are always welcome!

Studio 330: Genealogy Club

Wednesday, November 12th from 6:00 to 7:30 PM

Second Wednesday of every month.

In Person. Join our genealogy club in November to prepare for holiday genealogy treasure hunting.

The holidays are a perfect time to build your family tree and capture family stories. This session will give you the basics of getting started in your genealogy research. We will provide handouts and ideas to engage your family members in the hunt.

Register or drop-in. *No food allowed in the studio and patrons between 13-17 must be accompanied by an adult.

Books & Beyond Book Club

Thursday, November 13th from 6:00 PM to 7:45 PM

Second Thursday of every month.

In person. Do you love books and sharing them as much as we do? Join us to delve into new worlds of conversation about new books at your community’s public library! The theme this month is: Revenge.

Phoenix Project – Hope for New Beginnings

Tuesday, November 18 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM

Third Tuesday of every month.

In person. Serving all members of the Front Royal/Warren County community who have experienced or are currently experiencing domestic violence or sexual assault, Phoenix Project Advocates are available to provide crisis intervention, supportive counseling, safety planning, information, education, and more. Their services are free, confidential, and trauma-informed. Hope. Help. Healing.
