“The Great I Am” Restoration at Warren County Fairgrounds

Come to the Warren County Fairgrounds October 26th and 27th to enjoy live praise and worship! Miraculous testimonies will be shared both days, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., at this free event.

Bring your favorite lawn chair and the entire family for music, food, fun and fellowship! Let’s gather together with friends and neighbors as we celebrate God in worship, thanksgiving, and praise.

Steve Foster and Amazing Grace, God’s Anointed Mule, Dynamic Life Ministries, Band of Brothers, The Missionary Singers of Front Royal and other special guests will be here live!

49th Annual Festival of Leaves Parade

Only a few drops of rain fell, but not enough rain to stop our publisher Mike McCool and camerman Mark Williams to bring you the 49th Annual Festival of Leaves parade.

St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church 2019 Rosary Procession

The Knights of Columbus sponsored the 2019 Rosary Procession in Front Royal, Virginia, on October 6th. Approximately 400 parishioners from St. John the Baptist traveled down Main Street to the town’s Gazebo, where Fr. Cozzi consecrated the parish to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. After returning to the church, a pot luck dinner was held for all the attendees.

The John Carrell Jenkins Council #7771 of the Knights of Columbus is dedicated to Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism. We support our parish and community through a variety of programs. To learn more about the Knights of Columbus, visit www.KofC7771.org.

General Education Development

Samuels Public Library invites you to register and attend the General Education Development course. This course will be every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 A.M-12:30 P.M (except on school holidays or closings). The GED course is completely free. Let this course be the stepping stone to your success.


English as a Second Language Discussion Group

Samuels Public Library invites you to come out and join us for our English as a Second language discussion group starting. This is a conversational English language class for adults whose primary language is not English. All skill levels are welcome. Practice speaking English in a welcoming, group atmosphere. This group meets every Tuesday & Thursday at 10:00 am.


What the Tech!

Having trouble with your electronics? Don’t worry! Come into What the Tech and we can help you! Phones, tablets, ereaders, and anything else you need help with! Just check at the Adult Reference Desk for available times every Tuesday.


Exploring Computers

The Library invites you to attend our intermediate computer class and improve your skills. Each month explore a new computer program or application in a safe, friendly environment with other intermediate users. Classes are held on Thursdays at 1:00 P.M. October will focus on social media.


Books & Beyond Discussion Group

Genealogy Nuts: Shake Your Family Tree

Samuels Public Library invites you to a workshop for beginning to advanced genealogists. Discover your family roots with a team of genealogists who together have researched more than 50,000 names. Classes are held 1st & 3rd Thursday nights at 6:00 pm. (October 3rd & 17th)


Third Thursday Movie: Rocketman

Join us at the library Thursday, October 17th at 5:30 P.M. for a special showing of the newly released 2019 film “Rocketman,” staring Taron Egerton, tells the inspirational story of Elton John’s breakthrough years to the soundtrack of his most beloved songs. This is an adult program. While the movie is rated R, Common Sense Media reports it’s good for ages 15 and up. Children under 13 will not be allowed. All teens must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The film currently holds a 90 percent Certified Fresh Rotten Tomatoes score and an A- CinemaScore.


Enhancing/Editing Photos Using Free Apps

The Friends of Samuels Library presents a workshop on photo editing led by photographer Sharon Fisher Saturday, October 19th at 10:30 A.M. Learn how to use free apps, including Google Photos and Snapseed, to edit your photos. Space is limited. Registration required.


Sons of the American Revolution Genealogy Workshop

Samuels Public Library invites you to a Genealogy workshop open to the public. Learn how to discover your revolution era ancestors with the Sons of the American Revolution Saturday, October 26th at 2:00 P.M.


 “Degenerate Art”: The Peresecution of Modern Art and Artists in Nazi Germany

FOSL hosts this special fall art history lecture led by popular art history lecturer Ben Glenn Tuesday, October 29th at 6:30 P.M. Many people are unaware that, in 1937, a wildly popular art exhibition organized by Nazi “cultural ministers” toured Germany.  Entitled “Degenerate Art,” the exhibition pilloried numerous 20th-century artists whose works were deemed as having no merit as well as being “against the State.”  As a result, many objects exhibited subsequently were destroyed and the artists forgotten. Registration will open September 29th. Be sure to sign up early for this riveting evening of history and art.Seats for Ben Glenn’s popular lectures always fill up quickly.

Mark your calendar: 49th Annual ‘Festival of Leaves’ is this Saturday, October 12th

This Saturday, October 12th, marks the 49th year of the Warren Heritage Society’s annual fundraiser, the Festival of Leaves. Please mark your calendar and plan on joining us on Saturday, October 12, 2019, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.

The Festival takes place in historic downtown Front Royal, Virginia, on Chester and Main Streets. Come enjoy Front Royal at its best. Arts and crafts abound in the heart of our historic district.

Several musical acts will provide all day entertainment. Come enjoy Heritage Square on the grounds of the Warren Heritage Society at 101 Chester Street where you will find museums, tours of our historic homes – Belle Boyd Cottage (Front Royal home of Confederate spy Belle Boyd) and 18th century Balthis House – and their outbuildings, re-enactors, living history demonstrations, crafts people, and apple butter making, to name a few. Plan on joining us for a day of fun for all ages.

WCHS Band annual fruit sale

It’s time again for the Warren County High School Band fruit sale. Orders start now with fruit delivery on December 2nd, 3rd and 4th at Warren County High School from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

This year there are four fruit options available:

  • Navel Oranges
  • Ruby Red Grapefruit
  • Juice Oranges
  • Mix Navel & Grapefruit (Whole Cases Only)

The prices are:

  • Whole Cases $35
  • Half Cases $25
  • Mix Navel & Grapefruit $40

Typical fruit count per case:

  • Navels 48-60
  • Grapefruit 26-32
  • Juice 80-120

There are several ways this year to order:

  1. You can also order online. Go to FRUITORDER.COM and select ORDER NOW! Use code 575496 to access our Band Page. Select fruit you wish order, enter your billing information, give credit to band student for order. Select student name from the drop down box, then proceed to checkout & payment. You can pay online via credit card or electronic check. All fruit will be delivered to WCHS Only.
  2. Place order with WCHS Band Student.
  3. Call Order In – Call WCHS Band Room at 540-635-4144 Ext. 44137. Leave your name, phone number, fruit order, name of band student to receive credit.
  4. Contact Mr. Dingess via email at ddingess@wcps.k12.va.us.
