25 Years of Dreams: Front Royal Women’s Resource Center Celebrates with Expanded Grants and Community Events

The Front Royal Women’s Resource Center (FRWRC) is making waves in its 25th year of empowering local women through the Dare to Dream grant program. This silver anniversary marks a milestone in providing financial support to women striving to achieve their personal and professional aspirations.

Dare to Dream Grants: Bigger and Better
The Dare to Dream program, FRWRC’s flagship initiative, offers up to $1,000 per recipient. These grants are open to women living or working in Warren County, and the application period runs until December 30. Over the years, these grants have enabled recipients to pursue education, launch businesses, and expand career opportunities.

This year, the program is enhanced by a $5,000 collaboration with the Warren Memorial Hospital Foundation. These additional funds will provide five healthcare-focused grants, each worth $1,000. “It’s an incredible opportunity for women pursuing careers in healthcare or related fields, from clinical roles to administrative or IT positions,” says Emily Burner, D.Prof, Senior Director of Development of the Warren Memorial Hospital Foundation.

The FRWRC also awards two $3,000 Elaine Bromfield Memorial Scholarships annually, selected from Dare to Dream applications, further broadening opportunities for local women.

The Impact of Dreams
Liz Coffey, Executive Director of FRWRC, highlights the far-reaching impact of these grants. “The program has grown from giving a single $200 grant in its first year to distributing nearly $20,000 annually. That first $200 changed someone’s life. Imagine what’s possible now,” Coffey says.

Past recipients, like Joey Waters, who now chairs the Dare to Dream Committee, credit the program for turning aspirations into achievements. “It motivates women to believe their dreams are achievable with just a little help,” Waters notes.

Upcoming Events and Fundraisers
To support the Dare to Dream program and other initiatives, FRWRC is hosting several events:

  • Annual Appeal Fundraiser: The organization aims to raise $50,000 through its November appeal to fund programs, events, and operational needs.
  • Pop-Up Event on December 16: Collaborating with ON CUE on Main Street will offer an interactive fundraising experience.
  • Dare to Dream Breakfast: Scheduled for March 27, 2024, at Shenandoah Valley Golf Club, this annual celebration honors grant recipients and their journeys. Tickets will be available in early 2024.

Partnership with the Warren Memorial Hospital Foundation
The hospital foundation plays a pivotal role in expanding healthcare-related grants. From funding educational opportunities for hospital staff to enhancing patient care services, the foundation’s support exemplifies its mission to contribute to the community’s well-being.

“Our goal is to encourage local talent to either start or continue their healthcare careers,” says Burna. “This collaboration with FRWRC amplifies the impact we can make together.”

How to Apply or Contribute
Women with a dream and a connection to Warren County are encouraged to apply for Dare to Dream grants by visiting FRWRC’s website. Community members looking to support the program can donate through the annual appeal or participate in upcoming fundraisers.

A Community Built on Collaboration
Organizations like FRWRC and the Warren Memorial Hospital Foundation demonstrate how partnerships and community involvement create lasting change. “Every dollar spent locally comes back multiple times over,” says Coffey. “But it’s not just about the money—it’s about uplifting each other and building a stronger future for our community.”

FRWRC marks 25 years of transforming dreams into reality, so the organization invites everyone to be part of this legacy. Whether you’re a dreamer or a supporter, this inspiring journey has room for you.
