Late Wednesday morning, April 9, the Front Royal Police Department issued a Press Release concerning a 2-day incident involving a male suspect facing multiple felony charges in Fauquier and Stafford Counties. That suspect fled the Town Police’s initial attempt to ID him Monday night in the 1600 block of North Royal Avenue Extended on Front Royal’s north side. William Christopher Mosley Jr., 34, of Richmond is currently being held without bond in RSW Regional Jail. In its release FRPD thanked multiple agencies who assisted in the two-day operation.

Below is the FRPD Press Release in its entirety:

Front Royal, VA – On the evening of April 7, 2025, officers with the Front Royal Police Department responded to the 1600 block of North Royal Avenue regarding a wanted individual, identified as 34-year-old William Christopher Mosley Jr. of Richmond, Virginia, who was reported to be sitting in a vehicle at a residence.

Upon making contact with Mosley, he fled on foot, initiating a brief pursuit. A coordinated search was conducted in the area of Depot Avenue near the South Fork River, with assistance from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office, Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office, Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office, and the Virginia State Police. Despite extensive efforts, Mosley was not located, and the search was subsequently suspended.

On April 8, 2025, the Front Royal Police Department received information that Mosley had returned to the same residence on North Royal Avenue. Officers responded and confirmed his presence inside the home following communication with other occupants. It was believed that Mosley had barricaded himself and was the sole individual inside.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Team responded to secure the perimeter while negotiation teams from both the Front Royal Police Department and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office established contact with Mosley. Assistance was also provided from the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office and Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office. After approximately three hours of negotiations, Mosley surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody without incident.

Following his arrest, Mosley was transported to RSW Regional Jail, where he was served with two outstanding misdemeanor warrants from the Front Royal Police Department for violations of:

Code of Virginia §18.2-460(E): Obstruction of Justice

Code of Virginia §19.2-82.1: Providing False Identification to Law Enforcement

Additionally, Mosley was served with six (6) capias warrants from the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office and one (1) capias from the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office. He is currently being held at RSW Regional Jail without bond.

The Front Royal Police Department would like to thank all participating agencies for their assistance and continued partnership in ensuring public safety.
