Why Are Veggie Stands a Priority Over Fire and Schools?

Published

on

Who is really being transparent, and who is required to be transparent in the county’s budget process?

Transparency is only for the departments, library, and all the others that receive money. Is the BOS being transparent, especially Rich Jamieson, since the Homesteaders announced a partnership with the County before presenting his plan to spend taxpayer money to develop the 2 acres on Reliance Rd. for the homesteaders? According to the homesteaders, the County Parks and Rec will oversee it. I find this interesting since Parks and Rec say they are shorthanded. Now, they say there would be a stand fee. What amount would it be? Per week? Per month? How much money will this generate? Keep in mind development cost will be 50k to 100k to bring it to county ordinance. Oh wait, Rich is rewriting the ordinance to skirt around that. Funny, we never heard of that TRANSPARENT PLAN.

We had no units available Thursday for fire and rescue calls, we’re not helping fund the Chester Gap fire department, the schools’ budget needs are reduced, and our priorities are vegetable and fruit stands.

Here is my recommendation: Rich Jamieson needs to invest in OUR COMMUNITY, buy the 2-acre parcel at fair market value, develop it, rent the homesteaders the stands to recoup his money, and pay the real estate taxes that WE need. By doing your secret covert operation, you’re stealing from OUR COMMUNITY! I’m very certain the tax on a commercial lot is more than a stand fee. This would eliminate a private-public partnership that you apparently don’t like.

AKA LIBRARY!

If you want transparency, start here, buddy!
