A local church known for its warm welcome and solid Bible teaching is inviting the community to join in a special celebration.

On Sunday, September 14, Freedom Baptist Church will celebrate its 16th anniversary with a joyful morning of worship, fellowship, and food. The event begins at 9:45 a.m. at the church’s location—1200 N Shenandoah Avenue—just down the road from the old hospital in Front Royal.

“Freedom Baptist Church has always been about sharing God’s truth in love,” said Pastor Hollis Hillman, who has been leading the church and its growing congregation with a steady hand and a faithful heart. “This celebration is really about what God has done through the people here over the past 16 years—and what He’s still doing today.”

The anniversary service will include heartfelt singing, practical Bible preaching, and a special time set aside for children. Families with kids are encouraged to attend, as there will be fun and age-appropriate activities just for them.

After the service, the church invites everyone to stay and enjoy a community meal featuring one of the South’s favorite traditions: fried chicken and all the fixins. It’s a chance to relax, connect with others, and get to know what the church is all about in a friendly, no-pressure setting.

Founded in 2009 by a small group of believers with a strong commitment to Bible preaching, Freedom Baptist Church has steadily grown into one of Front Royal’s friendliest congregations. Known for its community-minded spirit, the church supports local outreach, youth programs, and practical teaching that speaks to everyday life.

Pastor Hillman is widely appreciated for his clear and down-to-earth preaching style, making the Bible accessible to everyone—from first-time visitors to long-time members.

“This isn’t just a church service—it’s a family reunion with room for more family,” Pastor Hillman said with a smile. “We hope people who haven’t been in church for a while—or maybe never have—will give it a try. They just might find a place they can call home.”

The church doors open at 9:30 a.m., and the service starts at 9:45 a.m. on Sunday, September 14. Early arrival is encouraged to find a good seat and enjoy some pre-service fellowship.

Freedom Baptist Church extends this open invitation to anyone seeking encouragement, connection, and a place to grow in faith. With friendly faces, meaningful worship, and a big plate of comfort food waiting afterward, it might just be the perfect time to come back to church.
