VDOT: Warren County Traffic Alert for November 24 – December 5, 2025

The following is a list of highway work that may impact traffic in Warren County during the upcoming weeks. Scheduled work is subject to change due to inclement weather and material supply issues. Motorists are advised to watch for slow-moving tractors during mowing operations. When traveling through a work zone, be alert to periodic changes in traffic patterns and lane closures.

VDOT will be suspending many highway work zones and lifting temporary lane closures on interstates and other major roads in Virginia from noon on Wednesday, Nov. 26 until noon on Monday, Dec. 1.

INTERSTATE 66

Mile marker 2 to 0, westbound – Shoulder closures for road work related to I-81 southbound widening, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through Jan. 9.

*UPDATE* Mile marker 8 to 0, westbound – Right shoulder closures for shoulder repairs, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov 24 – 26.

Mile marker 10 to 12, eastbound – Single lane closures for bridge maintenance, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through December 5.

Mile marker 14 to 15, eastbound – Right shoulder closures for utility work, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays through Nov. 28. Nighttime and overnight work during weekends.

INTERSTATE 81

*UPDATE* Mile marker 299 to 300, northbound and southbound – Slow-roll traffic control for controlled blasting between 10 a.m. and 12 noon Dec. 4. Overnight single lane closures southbound, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. through the night of Jan. 8. Single shoulder closures 24/7. Work zone speed limit is 60 miles per hour. Traffic restrictions are related to the I-81 southbound widening project.

SECONDARY ROADS

No lane closures reported.

Vegetation management may take place district-wide on various routes. VDOT reminds motorists to use extreme caution when traveling through work zones.
