Samuels Public Library is buzzing with excitement as it ushers in a new era under the leadership of Erin Rooney, who has been appointed as the new Library Director. Erin, an integral part of the library team since 2015, takes over the reins on February 1, 2024. Her promotion represents a significant milestone in her career and a testament to her dedication and expertise in library services.

Erin’s journey with Samuels Public Library began nearly a decade ago, and her rise through the ranks is nothing short of inspiring. A graduate of James Madison University, she further honed her skills by earning a Master of Library Science Degree from the University of North Texas. Her multifaceted experience within the library, especially as the Adult Reference Supervisor since 2020, has equipped her with a deep understanding of the library’s operations and community needs.

Known for her enthusiasm and commitment to excellence, Erin has been instrumental in shaping the library’s diverse offerings. From children’s services to adult reference, her touch has been evident across various departments. Her role in hiring and training both the Reference and Technical Services staff showcases her leadership and vision for a collaborative and efficient team.

Erin’s connection to the Front Royal community runs deep. As a resident and an active community member, she brings a unique perspective to her new role. Her passion for the library profession and dedication to providing top-notch customer service aligns perfectly with the library’s mission. Erin’s belief in the power of libraries as community hubs is evident in her track record of successful programs and projects.

The transition to her new role is a seamless one, thanks to the strong foundation laid by her predecessor, Michelle Ross, and the interim directorship of Eileen Grady. The library’s staff and trustees are thrilled to support Erin in this new chapter.

As Erin steps into her new position, she carries with her not just a wealth of experience but also fresh ideas and a vision to enhance the library’s role in the community. From expanding services to embracing new technologies, Erin is poised to lead Samuels Public Library into a bright and innovative future.

In the spirit of community and growth, Samuels Public Library invites everyone to join in celebrating this new journey with Erin Rooney at the helm. Her leadership promises to continue the library’s legacy of being a vibrant, essential part of Front Royal, enriching lives and fostering a love for learning and discovery.
