Seniors First Fall Festival Brings Laughter and Community Spirit to Clarke County

Berryville will come alive with music, costumes, and community spirit later this month as Seniors First hosts its annual Centers-Wide Fall Festival, bringing together senior participants from across the region for a lively morning of seasonal fun.

Set for Wednesday, October 30, 2024, the event will run from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Clarke County Recreation Center, located at 225 Al Smith Circle in Berryville. The festival, a highlight of the fall season for local senior centers, is designed to celebrate connection, laughter, and the vibrant energy of older adults.

From the moment the doors open, guests will be greeted with upbeat music from a local DJ and a host of interactive activities that invite everyone to join in the fun. Whether it’s games, dancing, or just enjoying the company of friends, the morning promises something for everyone.

One of the main attractions will be a spirited Halloween costume contest, scheduled to begin at 11:15 a.m. Participants will showcase their most creative, spooky, or humorous outfits in front of a panel of familiar faces from the Clarke County community. This year’s judges include Clarke County Sheriff Travis Sumption, Berryville Mayor Harry L. “Jay” Arnold Jr., and Board of Supervisors Chair David S. Weiss.

“This is more than just a party,” said Greg Stockton of Seniors First. “It’s a chance for seniors to come together, laugh, and be celebrated. Social events like these are vital for emotional well-being and building stronger community ties.”

The Fall Festival reflects the core mission of Seniors First—creating opportunities for older adults to stay active, connected, and engaged. While the event will offer traditional seasonal fun, such as costumes and music, its greater purpose is to spotlight the importance of social engagement for aging adults across the region.

Over the years, the festival has grown to include participants from multiple senior centers, turning the annual gathering into a regional tradition. It’s become a day many look forward to—not just for the entertainment, but for the friendships formed and memories made.
