County Supervisors Select Familiar Face to the Interim WC Administrator’s Job – Does the Name Dr. Martin Sound Famliar?

In the wake of a 3 p.m. Closed Session discussion and related interviews regarding the appointment of an Interim County Administrator to hold the position until a long-term replacement is chosen, the Warren County Board of Supervisors announced its selection for the interim position on a longer-term basis.

In a brief 2-minute-29-second Open Session out of Closed/Executive Session, on a motion by Hugh Henry, followed by a unanimous, 5-0 vote of approval, the selection is Dr. David Martin. If the name rings a bell, that is because Dr. Martin recently held the position of Interim Superintendent of Warren County’s Public Schools pending the selection of Dr. Troy Wright to that position on a long-term basis.

Perhaps ironically, shortly after the unanimous vote of approval of Martin to the Interim County Administrator’s position, the supervisors convened to a 6 p.m. joint work session with the Warren County School Board and staff to discuss the public schools’ Fiscal Year 2027 Budget request to the County. Schools Superintendent Dr. Wright moderated the Public Schools staff presentation of their FY-2027 budget request.

Recently installed WC Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Troy Wright, closest to the camera, moderated his staff’s presentation of its FY-2027 Budget proposal to County officials.

However, Dr. Martin was not present for the work session as his interim administrator’s term is slated to begin next week, Tuesday, February 17th. That could be an interesting first on-the-job meeting for Dr. Martin as public discussion of the recently created by the former board majority’s County Library Board’s future is anticipated.

The appointment of Dr. Martin also frees up Deputy County Administrator Jane Meadows to her normal role in the deputy’s position. Meadows was recently appointed to hold down the interim administrator’s position temporarily. However, she has verified a lack of interest in a longer-term departure from her Deputy Director’s position.

The County is expected to issue a press release on the Martin appointment imminently. That release will be linked to this story as soon as it becomes available.

Royal Examiner will also summarize the joint Supervisors/School Board work session, and subsequent WC Fire & Rescue staffing and budget presentation, as well as the County’s exploration of reinstituting a cigarette sales tax in the coming stories.
