Warren County Fire and Rescue Launches “10-A-Day” Campaign to Improve Home Safety

Published

on

Firefighters across Warren County are heading into neighborhoods this week with a simple but important goal: help more families stay safe from house fires.

The annual “10-A-Day” campaign, led by Warren County Fire and Rescue, runs from April 26 through May 2. During that time, crews will go door-to-door offering free smoke alarm checks, installations, and fire safety education.

The program challenges each crew to visit at least 10 homes a day, speak with residents about fire prevention, inspect existing smoke alarms, and install new ones when needed. With eight fire stations taking part, the department hopes to reach about 80 homes each day and install as many as 560 smoke alarms by the end of the week.

Fire officials say working smoke alarms are one of the most important tools for preventing injury or death in a fire. “Smoke alarms are a critical first line of defense in a home fire,” said Chief Bonzano. “This program allows our firefighters to connect directly with residents and ensure every home in Warren County has that protection in place.”

The service is free, and residents do not have to wait for crews to come to their neighborhood. Anyone who wants to schedule a visit can call the department directly.

By combining education with hands-on help, fire officials hope to reduce risks and give families peace of mind. The effort also gives firefighters a chance to connect with the community proactively.

Warren County Fire and Rescue encourages residents to take advantage of the program and make sure their homes are as safe as possible.
