U.S. Senator Tim Kaine made a campaign stop in Front Royal on Saturday, June 9, at the newly-opened Front Royal Brewing Company on E. Main Street.

Kaine, a Democrat who is seeking a second six-year term, confirmed he has accepted invitations for a July 21 debate at the Virginia Bar Association’s summer meeting in Hot Springs; a Sept. 26 forum in Northern Virginia; and a third debate in Richmond sometime prior to Election Day.

Voters statewide will choose the GOP nominee Tuesday from three candidates: Del. Nick Freitas of Culpeper County; E.W. Jackson, a Chesapeake minister; and Corey Stewart, Prince William County Board chairman.

It is not yet decided if Libertarian Party candidate Matt Waters will be invited if he garners a spot on the fall ballot.

Colleen Bauer, an independent voter, says she will support Sen. Kaine in the Tues. primary.

Colleen Bauer, of Warren County says she is an independent voter who likes Kaine’s message. As a voter, Ms. Bauer says she is open to the best candidate, no matter the party.

Kaine’s position on women’s reproductive rights, what she feels is a level-headed approach to gun rights, his position on the President’s immigration policies at the border and his work on crafting the Iran deal are among the topics which make her a supporter
Bauer stood in line to ask Sen. Kaine about the Iran deal and said she felt encouraged by what she heard. “What we do here in Virginia is watched by the rest of the country.”

Kaine told those gathered at Front Royal Brewing Company that he was “fighting to create a Virginia that works for everyone.”

“It shouldn’t matter what part of the state you’re in, it shouldn’t matter what color of your skin, or your religion, or where your family is from…we want a Virginia that works for everybody.

“I’m excited about Tuesday…if we do our job right, we should be able to pick up a bunch of House seats! We’ve got that Commonwealth attitude!”

The Kimberly Family, of Front Royal, came by on Saturday to meet and support. Sen. Kaine
