TOWN NOTICE: Hurricane Florence

The National Hurricane Center is currently forecasting Hurricane Florence to bring potential heavy rainfall (3-6”) which may lead to isolated flooding to our local area and tropical storm force winds throughout the day Thursday & Friday, September 13-14th, resulting in downed trees and limbs.

Should you experience the following issues in the Town, please use the corresponding phone number to alert our staff of the issues or report issues here

• Street Flooding or Downed Trees/Limbs – (540) 635-7819 or (540) 635-2111

• Electric Service Disruption – (540) 635-3027 or (540) 635-2111

• Sewer Backup – (540) 635-7819 or (540) 635-2111

• Clogged Storm Inlets – (540) 635-7819

Please DO NOT drive around barricades placed to close roads due to high water. If you encounter high water on a road that is not blocked by barricades, please find an alternative route.

If you encounter downed power lines, please DO NOT attempt to remove from the road. Please contact the Town’s Energy Services Department at (540) 635-3027 or the Police Department at (540) 635-2111.

In the event of a serious storm event, Town crews will respond as quickly as possible to address issues.
