WCHS DECA’s Community Connections Spark Remarkable Growth

From Humble Beginnings to Booming Presence.

Three years ago, Warren County High School’s DECA chapter began a journey under the guidance of Mr. Richard Gardner, with a mere 13 student members who were intrigued by the idea of DECA but unfamiliar with its impact. Today, this organization proudly stands 87 members strong, boasting a dynamic mix of 46 students, 20 professionals, and 20 alumni, all ready to take on the state conference with vigor.

The Synergy of Commitment and Community

A significant factor in DECA’s impressive growth spurt has been the solid network of business partners cultivated over the years. These relationships have been crucial in mentoring students, exposing them to real-world business scenarios, and preparing them for competitive success. Gardner reflects on the chapter’s evolution with pride, emphasizing that while they graduated a strong core of seniors, DECA is not just rebuilding but “reloading” with fresh talent.

Sophia Logan, the chapter’s president, along with her leadership team, including Executive Vice President Bre Taylor, VP of Marketing Raymond Dingess, VP of Corporate Information Ayanna Vasishta, and VP of Alumni Relations Ella Martin, recently led the business partner recognition ceremony. They expressed heartfelt gratitude to their business partners, who have played an instrumental role in the chapter’s development.

Building Bridges with the Business Community

The local business community’s involvement began with a pivotal partnership with Nikki Foster from the Chamber of Commerce, who, along with Mike McCool, Tina Tolliver, Heather Clatterbuck, and William Huck, provided mentorship to DECA members. Their engagement has provided the DECA chapter invaluable community exposure and resources.

In recognition of their unwavering support, the chapter awarded Ms. Foster a plaque, honoring her as the 2023 official DECA business partner. Ms. Foster’s commitment was further evidenced by her encouraging words, continued enthusiasm for student development, and eagerness to build relationships with the new DECA members.

As the Warren County High School DECA chapter continues to thrive, the focus remains on harnessing the collective power of community connections to fuel student growth and achievement. With supportive partners and a dedicated leadership team, DECA members are poised for success at the upcoming state conference and beyond.

The chapter’s progression was celebrated with a lunch prepared by the adept DECA Tailgaters, marking another successful chapter event and foreshadowing the many achievements yet to come.
