Sterling Long Ammons (1931 – 2024)

Sterling Long Ammons, 92, of Front Royal, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at home.

A graveside service will be held on August 12, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. in Panorama Memorial Gardens, 4917 Strasburg Road, Front Royal, with The Reverend Ken Patrick officiating.

Mr. Ammons was born in Post, Texas on August 8, 1931, to the late James Ammons and Mary Elizabeth Daniel Dean Ammons Justice Pierce.

He was a Korean War veteran, one of the “Frozen Chosen” with the United States Army. He previously owned Ammons’ Musicland with his wife. He was an active member of the community, a volunteer firefighter and EMT, and a devoted member of local clubs.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beverly Joice McLaughlin Ammons; eight brothers and sisters; a daughter, Lynda Seal Krobath; and a grandson, Adam Seal.

Survivors include three children, 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

He was beloved and will be missed.
