Time to Mobilize to Keep Samuels Public Library
Today is a DARK day in Warren County, Virginia.
So in the wee hours of December 11, 2024, the Warren Co. Board of Supervisors (4 of 5) did it – they voted to establish another layer of government with the establishment of the “Warren County Library Board.” SHAME ON THEM!
This is not in the best interest of our community nor our award-winning, outstanding Samuels Public Library.
It’s an example of ultra-conservative theocrats taking over local government and imposing their will, even if it means destroying our county’s greatest asset – Samuels Public Library.
So now, it’s time for our community to mobilize.
Thankfully, Samuels Public Library is a separate, private nonprofit 501(c)3 with its own governance. The library, as a not-for-profit, cannot be run by a governmental agency (per IRS regulations).
We need to pull together and raise a minimum of $1M to keep our library alive and fully operational! The SPL website has an easy link where you can make your contribution: https://samuelslibrary.net/index.php/support/ways-to-give/donate-now
