Nelson to Massoud: Let’s Talk About What Matters to Working Families

Published

on

We’ve got enough to deal with in Warren County without people like John Massoud trying to turn neighbors against each other.

Most of us out here just want to live our lives in peace. We want to raise our kids, earn an honest living, take care of our families, and be left alone. That’s freedom. And it means more to us than any party platform or political headline from New York City.

But Massoud doesn’t want to talk about the things that actually matter to working people. He doesn’t want to talk about keeping good teachers in the classroom, or making sure local kids can get into the trades, or helping families afford groceries. Instead, he’s throwing around words like “communist” and “chaos” and hoping we won’t ask questions.

He wants us scared. Distracted. Divided. He’s hoping we’ll stay focused on headlines instead of what’s happening right here at home.

Folks around here don’t care about labels. We care about who shows up. Who tells the truth. Who fights for the people who live here and doesn’t take marching orders from party bosses.

And the truth is, lately we’ve seen way too much government overreach from people who claim to be for small government. We’ve watched them go after our library, punish nonprofits, and silence the public when they speak up. That’s not freedom. That’s control. And it should bother every one of us, no matter what party we vote for.

You don’t have to agree with every Democrat to see that some of them are actually trying to make life better. Abigail Spanberger fights to bring federal funding to rural communities like ours, whether it’s for broadband, first responders, or small businesses. Ghazala Hashmi has spent her career opening doors through education. Jay Jones believes the law should work the same for everyone, not just the well-connected.

These are public servants. You may not agree with them on every issue. But they’re not hiding. They’re not lying to you. And they’re not wasting time attacking New York politicians who have nothing to do with life in Warren County.

So this year, vote for someone who shows up for you. Vote for someone who respects you, your work, your time, and your freedom.

Not someone screaming about communists while ignoring the real work that needs to get done.
