Samuels Library celebrates 7th annual fundraiser, A Taste for Books, Saturday
The Samuels Public Library chose the theme “Coming Home” for its annual fundraising event, which was held Saturday, April 14. The library has used the April event as its chief fundraising event, with the goal of netting $15,000 after expenses incurred to hold the event.
The proceeds will be used to maintain the library’s resources, which include free programs for various age groups, purchasing new books and materials, updating computers, among other things.
The library was turned into a venue filled decorations and tables of food reflecting the heritage of Front Royal, Warren County and Virginia. Those attending the event were encouraged to dress in a costume for a favorite time period from the past. A silent auction was held with donated items from local merchants and patrons; music was provided by the Shenandoah Valley Minstrels.
Samuel’s Public Library is one of a handful of 501 (c)(3) nonprofit public libraries in Virginia and depends upon the support of donors, along with fundraisers, to improve and enhance services.
