Commonwealth’s Attorney candidate John S. Bell: ‘I want to make sure our citizens are safe’
Former Senior Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney John S. Bell, Esq., who announced his intention to seek the Republican nomination for Warren County Commonwealth’s Attorney in late March, stopped by Royal Examiner recently to chat with Editor Norma Jean Shaw.
The two spoke about a number of topics, including the fact that he urged Commonwealth’s Attorney Brian Madden to Bell impanel a Special Grand Jury to thoroughly investigate the allegations which have now been disclosed as part of a $17 million civil law suit filed in the Warren County Circuit Court by the Front Royal-Warren County Economic Development Authority regarding the alleged financial discrepancies and fraudulent activities that reportedly occurred under former Executive Director Jennifer McDonald.
Bell says that if he gets elected, constituents can expect to see him in the courtroom on a regular basis, trying cases. He believes it is a big part of the job, he said, rather than just stepping in to prosecute big cases. He also said a priority of the job is making sure that Warren County citizens are safe.
Bell, who has lived in the area for over three decades, is in practice with local attorney Nancie Williams at Williams and Bell, PC in Front Royal.
