Children Activities by Samuels Public Library for the Month of September

These are the events being presented by the Youth Services Department at Samuels Public Library during the month of September 2025.  More information about Samuels Library and the programs and services available can be found at www.samuelslibrary.net or by calling (540) 635-3153.


Monday, September 1

  • The library will be closed for the holiday.

Tuesday, September 2

  • 4:00 PM – Boats: Mix it Up.  For ages 6-11.  Come hear boat stories and make your own “noodle” boat.  Registration is required.

Wednesday & Thursday, September 3 & 4

  • 10:15AM – Toddler Story Time. 
  • 11:00AM – Preschool Story Time.
  • Come in for an enjoyable hour filled with Body stories, exciting sing-alongs, finger plays, and a nifty craft.

Saturday, September 6

  • 2:30PM – Ignite Careers: Teens Connect. For ages 12-18. Interested in photography?  Genetics? Animals? Join people from the Smithsonian Conservation Center, who will talk about cryopreservation, working landscapes, and animal care.  Registration is required.

Monday, September 8

  • 10:15 AM – Music & Movement for Babies (ages 0-23 months).
  • 11:15 AM – Music & Movement for Toddlers & Preschoolers (ages 2-5).  Join our fun and joyful time with your little ones as we listen to music while learning some basic movements and multisensory activities designed to delight your baby or toddler. Registration is required.

Tuesday, September 9

  • 10:30 AM – Paddle Boat: Homeschool Hub. For ages 6-11.  Come hear boat stories and learn about stored energy, as we make and test our own boats. Registration is required.

Wednesday & Thursday, September 10 & 11

  • 10:15AM – Toddler Story Time. 
  • 11:00AM – Preschool Story Time.
  • Come in for an enjoyable hour filled with Leaf stories, exciting sing-alongs, finger plays, and a nifty craft.

Saturday, September 13

  • 2:00 PM – Perfectly Fabulous Paw-Paws. For ages 7-11.  Meet us at Shenandoah River State Park to see paw-paws and learn the history and importance to humans and wildlife.  Registration is required.

Monday, September 15

  • 10:15 AM – Music & Movement for Babies (ages 0-23 months).
  • 11:15 AM – Music & Movement for Toddlers (ages 2-5). Join our fun and joyful time with your little ones as we listen to music while learning some basic movements and multisensory activities designed to delight your baby or toddler. Registration is required.

Tuesday, September 16

  • 4:00 PM – Leaf Art: Mix it Up.  For ages 6-11.  Come hear leaf stories and then use some leaves to make a fish, a person, or anything you want.  Registration is required

Wednesday, September 17

  • 10:15AM – Toddler Story Time.
  • 11:00AM – Preschool Story Time. 
  • Come in for an enjoyable hour filled with Boat stories, exciting sing-alongs, finger plays, and a nifty craft.

Saturday, September 20

  • All Day – SAMICON.  There will be activities and demonstrations for all ages:  scavenger hunt, escape room, LARP, costume contest, vendors….  Bring the family!

Tuesday, September 23

  • 10:30 AM – Plate Tectonics: Homeschool Hub.  For ages 6-11.  Learn about the Earth’s crust, earthquakes, and volcanic activity.  We will make and move our own plate tectonics. Registration is required.

Wednesday, September 24

  • 10:15AM – Toddler Story Time. 
  • 11:00AM – Read with the Sheriff Preschool Story Time
  • Come in for an enjoyable hour filled with Mushroom stories, exciting sing-alongs, finger plays, and a nifty craft.

FOSL Book Sale will start Thursday night (September 25) for FOSL members and be open to the public on Friday, Saturday, and Monday (September 26-29).  Come get some books to build your home collection!
