Dropkick Murphys to Headline D-Day Rally on the National Mall in Support of Veterans

June 6, 2025, will mark more than just the anniversary of D-Day. It will also be the day thousands of veterans, military families, and supporters from across the country rally on the National Mall to stand up for the benefits, jobs, and dignity that America’s veterans have earned—and they’ll be doing it with help from one of punk rock’s most iconic voices.

Legendary Celtic punk band Dropkick Murphys will headline the “Unite for Veterans, Unite for America” rally, lending their powerful sound and unshakable support to a cause deeply rooted in service and sacrifice.

The event, organized by the Unite for Veterans Coalition, will take place near the Washington Monument and World War II Memorial, creating a stirring backdrop for a rally focused on protest, remembrance, and unity.

“Since we started in 1996, Dropkick Murphys has always proudly supported the men and women of the United States military and are honored to count many of them among our most loyal fans,” said frontman Ken Casey. “It will be a privilege to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with veterans on the anniversary of D-Day to raise our voices in defense of their jobs, their health care, and their dignity.”

The rally begins at 2:00 p.m. ET and is expected to run until 5:00 p.m., though attendees are encouraged to arrive early for pre-rally gatherings and to meet fellow veterans and supporters. Organizers suggest arriving between 12:00 and 2:00 p.m. to get the full experience.

Why Veterans Are Rallying

The rally comes at a time of growing concern over deep cuts to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and to the federal workforce, where veterans represent nearly one-third of all employees. Many in the veteran community view these changes as a direct threat to the livelihoods, health care, and earned benefits of those who have served.

“Veterans know the difference between patriotism and empty platitudes,” said Will Attig, an Army veteran and lead organizer of the event. “On D-Day, we’ll be rallying and singing for something real: veterans’ jobs, their healthcare, and American ideals.”

The event will spotlight:

  • The defense of veteran employment in the federal workforce
  • Opposition to the privatization and weakening of the VA
  • Accountability for political leaders supporting policies that harm veterans and their families

Organizers point out that this is not a new fight. From the Bonus Army in 1932 to recent efforts to expand benefits for Agent Orange victims, veterans have repeatedly had to rally for what was promised.

“America made a promise to its veterans,” said rally organizers. “It’s a promise we intend to keep.”
