Pilgrim’s Showcases New Employee Housing, Childcare Center at Grand Opening Event

Moorefield, W.Va. — Pilgrim’s, a leading global food company and the largest employer in Hardy County, showcased its new employee housing complex and childcare center during a grand opening event on May 28. Attendees and representatives from around the region were provided a first-hand look at the $14.8 million complex, which is located on Eagle View Court in Moorefield.

Pilgrim’s Housing Manager Tim Cullers cuts the ribbon to the new employee housing and childcare center surrounded by the Pilgrim’s Moorefield team and West Virginia government representatives.

Visitors to the complex included USDA Rural Development State Director John Reisenweber, several representatives from West Virginia government and county commissioners from around the region, who were able to learn more about the unique complex and its impact.

“This project is possible thanks to the Pilgrim’s Hometown Strong initiative, which is part of Pilgrim’s and JBS USA’s larger effort to invest in meaningful projects that strengthen the communities where the company operates, creating a lasting impact in these regions,” said Allen Collins, Pilgrim’s Complex Manager.

Site Manager Kevin Simon provides a tour of one of the units at the new Pilgrim’s employee housing complex in Moorefield.

The complex, which is located within a short walking distance of the poultry facility, contains more than 160 units with affordable rates that will not increase for 15 years. Nearly 200 Pilgrim’s employees already occupying housing throughout the region will be offered residency at the new facility first. This will help address pressing housing needs in the area, supporting both economic growth and community stability. The childcare center provides another convenient option for family to take advantage of, showcasing Pilgrim’s continued leadership in providing childcare options for team members.

“These apartments and the childcare facility will provide quality, safe, affordable options for our team members, and we are proud to see this important project come to fruition. People working at our facility live in Pendleton, Grant, Hampshire and other surrounding counties – not just Hardy County. Our team members now have the option to live closer and enjoy being part of the Moorefield community,” Collins said.

Pilgrim’s Complex Manager Allen Collins, left, discusses the needs the new Pilgrim’s employee housing and childcare center will address in the community.

Hardy County Commissioner Dave Workman said he values Pilgrim’s continued community presence and stewardship.

“We certainly recognize and appreciate full well Pilgrim’s contribution to the local economy, families and community. We compliment them on the outstanding job they’ve done for years,” Workman said.

The complex, which will soon include an onsite convenience store, is a symbol of Pilgrim’s continued investment in the community and its team members.

ilgrim’s Housing Manager Tim Cullers, center, discusses the new Moorefield complex and its impact.

This project adds to the previous $860,000 Hometown Strong investment into Moorefield that resulted in an expanded daycare facility, town park, new indoor recreation center and CPR training center. Nationally, it represents Pilgrim’s continued leadership in affordable housing and childcare options in the communities where the company operates.

(Pilgrim’s Moorefield is the largest employer in Hardy County and the largest agriculture facility in West Virginia. The facility produces chicken products that help feed millions of Americans.)
