OmniRide to Offer Free July 4 Bus Service to Metro for D.C. Fireworks

Published

OmniRide will provide free round-trip bus service to the Pentagon Metrorail Station on July 4, giving residents a convenient way to attend Independence Day celebrations and fireworks in Washington, D.C.

The transportation service is being offered as part of America’s 250th anniversary celebrations and is designed to help travelers avoid heavy traffic and parking problems during one of the busiest travel days of the year.

Buses will depart from two locations — the Stonebridge Garage in Woodbridge and the University Lot in Gainesville — and transport riders to the Pentagon Metro station between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Riders can then use Metro service to reach destinations throughout the Washington area.

Return trips from the Pentagon will begin at 9:30 p.m. after the fireworks and celebrations conclude. OmniRide officials said buses will continue operating until all registered passengers are returned safely to their departure locations.

“This is OmniRide’s way of saying thank you to our community,” said Bob Schneider, executive director of OmniRide. “One of the great things about celebrating the Fourth of July in Washington is the variety of places to enjoy the fireworks. By connecting riders to Metro, we can help them reach their favorite viewing locations, enjoy the celebration, and return home safely.”

Advance registration through Eventbrite is required to use the service. Riders may reserve up to four tickets per person, and tickets will not be available at pickup locations on July 4.

OmniRide operates transportation services throughout Northern Virginia, including local bus routes, commuter express service, Metro connections, and on-demand microtransit options in several communities.

More information and registration details are available at OmniRide.com.
