Cash gifts totaling more than $17,000 were distributed to nine local organizations at the Rotary Club of Front Royal’s last weekly meeting, Friday, August 23.

Kim Crump, the 2018-19 president, stepped forward to distribute the money raised during her tenure and was aided in the presentations by recently-elected Incoming President Bret Hrbek.

Crump paid tribute to “our club members (who) through their hard work, along with our generous sponsors, made these contributions possible.”

One of the donations, $2,500 to United Way, was redistributed to a trio of local public service organizations: St. Luke Community Clinic ($1,000); Blue Ridge Opportunities ($1,000) and Healthy Families ($500).

Ressie Jeffries PTO Playground Fund received $5,000, while House of Hope, Samuel’s Public Library and Blue Ridge Arts Council each received checks for $1,000.

In addition, Warren County Parks & Recreation’s Splash Pad project received $6,000; and the Warren County Back Pack program was gifted with $870.

“It’s my pleasure to award these well deserved monies to these terrific community organizations,” Crump told her fellow Rotarians.
