Deborah Diane Clelland-Meehan
Deborah was a devoted mother who gave her heart and soul to her family. She was also deeply committed to personal growth, earning a master’s degree and advancing her career. Deborah built a successful career as a hardworking and dedicated professional in the mortgage industry. She earned the respect of all who knew her for her sharp mind and steadfast approach.
Above all, Deborah had a deep love for animals, which led her to volunteer with FOHA (Friends of Homeless Animals). She was a strong advocate for ending euthanasia and found great joy in helping abandoned animals find their forever homes.
A curious and lifelong learner, Deborah spent countless hours unraveling her family’s history through genealogy—a rewarding journey that satisfied her thirst for knowledge and provided a lasting legacy of answers for her children.
Deborah loved to travel; Scotland and Egypt were two of her favorite destinations. She was also a skilled bowler who achieved the elusive perfect 300 game. In her quieter moments, she enjoyed knitting, putting together puzzles, painting, and spending time with her beloved dogs, Bindi and Bailey. A person of strong faith, Deborah was deeply rooted in her beliefs and always open to exploring spiritual matters.
In 1995, she married John V. Meehan Jr., and they shared nearly thirty years of life’s ups and downs.
Deborah is survived by her children, Duane K. Harris (Tracy), Daryl S. Harris (Liza), Jodi L. Saroka (Charles), and Kari D. Harris-Kampf (Hunter); as well as 12 grandchildren: Lacey, Ryan, Josephine, Charlotte, Victoria, Alexandra, Jacob, Nathan, Braden, Brienne, Ace, and Luca—each of whom brought her great pride and joy.
Her family will forever cherish her unwavering love, compassionate heart, sharp wit, and sarcastic humor, which have always brought joy to those around her.
A small family gathering will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at her final resting place at Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery in Luray, Virginia.
