February Filled with Fun at Samuels Public Library

Published

on

The Samuels Public Library is kicking off February with a spectacular lineup of programs for all ages, showcasing the library’s commitment to community engagement, learning, and fun. Michal Ashby, the Youth Reference Supervisor at the library, shared exciting details about what the community can look forward to this month.

The library is buzzing with anticipation for its Winter Reading Club, inviting adults, teens, and children to cozy up with a book and get rewarded. Adults can win gift baskets, while younger readers receive prizes or books for their literary adventures. Even the littlest listeners are included; all they need to do is listen to a story to earn a prize.

Highlighting the month’s events is “Teen Hawaii,” set for February 8th. This unique program offers teens a chance to immerse themselves in Hawaiian culture, learning about the traditional Hawaiian canoe, Hakuli’a, and experiencing a captivating dance demonstration. Ashby praises the program’s ability to blend education with the expressive beauty of Hawaiian dance and storytelling, reflecting on the deep spiritual and empowering aspects of the culture.

But that’s not all February has to offer. The library is also hosting a “Warm the Heart with Art” event, perfect for those looking to express their creativity through watercolors and canvas art, just in time for Valentine’s Day. Meanwhile, teens who might not be in the Valentine’s spirit can enjoy an Anti-Valentine’s Day celebration, showcasing the library’s diverse programming aimed at all interests.

For craft lovers, the library has planned a series of workshops, including one where participants can create adorable pine cone animals, a popular activity returning by popular demand. Additionally, children and adults alike can look forward to making winter slime, an activity that promises to be as fun as it is messy.

The library’s regular programs, such as the Homeschool Hub, Science Scouts, Preschool Storytime, Toddler Storytime, and Music and Movement, continue to offer engaging educational opportunities. These programs highlight the library’s role as a vibrant community hub where learning and fun go hand in hand.

In a special mention, Ashby highlighted the upcoming Bad Romance Author Panel, an exciting opportunity for romance novel enthusiasts to meet authors and learn about their writing processes. The panel is a testament to the library’s effort to connect readers with authors, further enriching the community’s literary experience.

Moreover, a virtual program titled “Life in the Last Frontier, Alaska” offers a glimpse into the adventurous and challenging lifestyle of living in Alaska, providing a unique educational experience for participants curious about life in the remote wilderness.

As February unfolds, the Samuels Public Library invites the community to participate in its diverse programs. Whether you’re a book lover, craft enthusiast, or seeking new learning experiences, the library is the place to be. With a calendar packed with activities, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
