on

Landowners in the Northern Shenandoah Valley are invited to attend “Preserve the Valley: A Land Conservation Forum” on Thursday, February 20, 2025, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Laurel Ridge Community College. The forum will take place in rooms 136 and 138 of the Science and Health Professions Building, located at 173 Skirmisher Lane, Middletown, VA.

Hosted by the National Park Service (NPS), the event is free and offers landowners the opportunity to learn about land preservation tools, processes, and benefits, including eligibility for tax credits. The forum will feature a diverse lineup of conservation experts who will provide valuable information on how property owners can help protect the region’s natural and historical resources.

Why Land Preservation Matters

Participants will hear from speakers who will discuss the importance of land preservation, the significance of Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park, and how protecting land contributes to the region’s long-term environmental sustainability and cultural heritage.

The forum aims to connect landowners with the tools and resources needed to participate in preservation efforts and highlights the many benefits, such as tax incentives and preserving the beauty and historical integrity of their land.

Participating Organizations

Attendees will have the chance to interact with representatives from leading conservation and historic preservation organizations, including:

  • National Park Service
  • Belle Grove, Inc.
