Governor Youngkin Celebrates Heroes at 2023 Governor’s Fire Service Awards

In a heartwarming ceremony held at the Virginia Fire Chiefs Association Expo and Symposium in Virginia Beach, Governor Glenn Youngkin took the opportunity to honor the extraordinary individuals who have made significant contributions to Virginia’s fire services. One standout recipient of the 2023 awards is Adam Still from Winchester Fire and Rescue. Still has been instrumental in adapting to challenges faced by the department, such as a decrease in experienced hires, by facilitating in-house recruit classes for all certifications. His involvement doesn’t stop there; He has also played a key role in the development of the active assailant program, mass casualty incident training, and first aid/CPR courses. His dedication to both teaching and the operational aspects of fire service exemplifies the kind of commitment and excellence that the Governor’s Fire Service Awards seek to honor.
